The above link broke - the new one is http://www.jacksonville.com/sports/2018 ... ng-of-2018

As noted in the article, Miami FC is dropping to NPSL as well (going by "Miami FC 2" because they are maintaining the fiction that the NASL will return).

All that's left of the NASL is the NY Cosmos (which will go down with the ship) and Puerto Rico FC (which wasn't going to play in 2018 after the island's devastation).

Meanwhile, the 33-team USL is about to open training camps. :)

No money to run the league, but plenty of money for lawyers

So what's the over-under on the number of years the NASL exists as a shell corporation from which Rocco Commisso (and/or maybe Riccardo Silva) operates all his useless lawsuits?

What I don't understand is the one owner says he was willing to pay something like $4 billion in TV rights and parachute payments if the MLS adopts pro/rel. If he has that kind of money, he could just prop up the NASL (and MLS and USL as well).
Of course the Cosmos play in a minor-league baseball park, so of course if they got to MLS, they would have NO problem building or finding a suitable soccer stadium.

Took no time at all for the MetroStars/Red Bulls and NYCFC to build stadiums!

Oh, wait.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.
