One lucky fan will be chosen to receive four tickets to opening night where they will be recognized for assisting in naming the mascot, a $50 gift certificate in team merchandise, and an autographed team football of the 2009 Austin Turfcats.

“This is a great opportunity with a franchise whose business model is structured for today’s economic environment,” said Short. “Success both on and off the field will ensure a quality product for fans, advertisers, and marketing partners alike.”

Currently a consultant in the areas of media psychology and corporate strategy, Short brings a background as an award winning journalist in both television and newspaper and well as in advertising. A published photographer with two calendars to his credit, Short is also a motivational speaker and speechwriter with both political and corporate clients.

“As a longtime football fan and journalist who covered the Dallas Cowboys for three years, this new position with the Austin Turfcats is like a dream come true! Being a part of a pro football team, especially one that aims to be very involved in our community, is dynamic and rewarding beyond words,” said Short.

With two master’s degrees, one in psychology and the other in mass communication, Short is now pursuing his MBA. A single parent with one son, he is active in the San Marcos community and a proud alumnus of Texas State University.
