I've been bugging the Statesman all season to give us some exposure, it is nice but too bad they waited until the end of the season to notice a team was in town.

Fans and friends,
Thanks to all Turfcats for a successful inaugural season in the Southern Indoor Football League. We could not have been successful without the work of our staff and especially our fans. We may have fell in the Presidents Cup but overall I am very happy with our product on and off the field in year one. And I have to say, as an Austin Turfcat it was so good to see so many green and gold-wearing Central Texans in Lake Charles on Monday night.
I am honored to be in the presence of the indoor football community, and to see faces, young and old, who love this great team.
The Austin Turfcats has been building a proud football tradition this year. In victory and defeat, the young men who have suited up and hit the gridiron for the Turfcats have always been a determined bunch that have brought great credit to this great sport.
Congratulations to all Turfcats, players and fans, on completing our mission of bringing back successful indoor football to Austin and Central Texas. This is not a one man or one player or one coach mission it has been a true team effort from the front office, ownership group, players, cheerleaders, fans and many others. All have sacrificed for this season from my family and yours throughout this journey.
I am attending league meetings now at Coushatta Casino and Resort in Kinder, Louisiana. I look forward to my return to the lone star state and making 2010 even a better season and fan experience. Please take time to tell others about us and let's grow this franchise together.

Postseason awards keep on coming for Turfcats
KINDER, La. – The Southern Indoor Football League announced their post season awards today during their 2009 Summer Conference at the Coushatta Casino Resort, and the Austin Turfcats walked away with many of them.
The Turfcats received awards for Best Website, Best Media Relations Department and Best News Coverage. The Lady Cats, led by Michelle Guidry, were named Best Cheerleader/Dance Team in their inaugural season.
Kasey Johns, Turfcats’ Director of Creative Services, picked up an honor as he was named to the All-SIFL Front Office team for his work on both the Turfcats and SIFL websites, technology, and marketing and promotion efforts.
Ronald Oswalt, Turfcats Vice-President/General Manager, accepted All-SIFL team awards for J. R. Turner, Avery Cleveland, Barrett Dallmeyer, Kevin Earvine, John Cardenas, Keith Clay, and Darrick Wallace. Wallace also received the 2009 SIFL special teams’ player of the year award.
Thom Hager, SIFL President, added, “Austin has a first class team and organization from top to bottom and there is no bottom. It is no wonder Austin took home so many postseason awards.”

3. Best Team playing in a Rodeo Barn
4. Best Team in Central Texas
At some point this is getting weird.....There are FIVE teams and the awards outnumber the participants.
The Kindergarten youth soccer team called and they think that too many people in the SIFL are getting post season trophies.

I also hear that all the semi pro teams got green participation ribbons.
1. Best Team whose name starts with the letters AUS
2. Best Team with Green Uniforms
3. Best Team playing in a Rodeo Barn

I've been fan of the year in 3 different leagues, what have you been besides a hater? I support the sport while you put it down. You seem to think your af2 is without problems. didn't they have 2 teams that would have folded this season if the league would'nt have stepped in and took them over? aren't there some rumors flying about several teams investigating the possibility of leaving to merge with some other exisitng teams in the sport to form their own leage?

You heard wrong, The North Texas Crunch and the Bayou Bulls did not receive any participation awards. they did however receive enormous gratitude and a slice of the football scene a step up the ladder. They receive exposure for their teams and players, after all that's what the semi-pro leagues are all about. Teaching the players, keeping them in game shape, and helping them get a shot to play in a higher league. it was a win - win situation for all involved.
I realize the big picture escapes you and it's supposed to be about you, not the players. You probably even think your precious league has never signed players from semi-pro leagues. Quit working so hard to be an a$$, it's working too well.
