Ford’s Buck Stops Here

Post by AAHL_fan01 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:12 pm

Laredo, TX – Travelling 1,000 miles for a shot at making the roster of a CHL team might seem normal for a training camp, but as a midseason tryout, it’s almost unheard of. Ryan Ford of the Evansville Icemen took a gamble on the trip, and Coach Terry Ruskowski took a gamble on a kid he had only heard about. For both men, the gamble paid off. Ford played in his first CHL contest on Saturday and earned himself a contract with the Laredo Bucks. The speedy centre enjoyed time on the team’s top line and fit in well with Ruskowski’s style of play.

“It was tough at first to re-make the adjustment in practice, going from the ECHL back to Evansville and then up to Laredo, but once you get the speed down, the adjustments get easier,” said Ford. Ford and the Bucks will be back in action on Tuesday as they welcome the Corpus Christi Rayz to the Streets of Laredo.
