If the initial ownership organization in Madison, that wanted to put a team in
Hartmeyer Arena had stuck to the original plan of going into the (AA) non-union
IHL, they would still be skating on solid ice.

With the ownership they had in place, I don't think the IHL would have even
considered them. That may have been the reason for them going
to the AAHL in the first place.

The AAHL is a disaster and hardly worth considering as part of the minor
league scope. The league generally consists of three solvent teams.

Chi-Town, Battle Creek -- MAHL holdovers that have somehow managed to
stay above water.

Evansville -- Seem to be on solid ground, but may end up in the IHL.

Western Michigan -- Currently playing in Muskegon, along side the IHL
Lumberjacks. One can only guess where the league came up with a
(5-16-3) record. Their placement is probably best suited for a close
proximity to the other three franchises.

Madison was too far west (for a bus league), Detroit was really too far
east as well.

Detroit (Fraser, has failed twice, both times in mid-season.)

Chicago -- Came mid-season in 2008-09 to fill the void Detroit left. They
never really stood a chance to survive this season.

The league issued a statement after the folding of Madison

After two seasons, plus the one that the MAHL gave us. I'm just not sure
that this type of hockey will ever work.
Adios, OSC message boards. (2007-2017)

Evansville is slated for the IHL next year. (If the new arena is done)
Also two others that I have heard of. They'd like 10 tms. in 2010-11,
and top out with 12 tms. by 2011-12. Those were Commissioner Hextall's words.

A-Puck CAN work on paper but not as long as people are financing teams with student loans or work as used car salesmen for dayjobs.
And that is all the people need to know!
