MAHL plans eight teams
04/30/08 - Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL)

CANTON, OH - The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League is pleased to announce several new developments in the league's preparations for the 2008-2009 season.
The MAHL is excited to welcome eight franchises for the 2008 - 2009 season. Teams will be located in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Over the next few weeks, the MAHL will announce expansion franchises in Michigan to join the Trenton (Michigan) Warriors and Battle Creek (Michigan) Revolution. The MAHL league offices have finalized ownership agreements with four of the eight franchises.

Of the eight teams taking the ice in November 2008, six have head coaches under contract. Four of the eight teams have signed general mangers to contracts.

The MAHL is looking forward to returning to the ice for the 2008-2009 season in November. The MAHL league office, owners, coaches, and general mangers are excited to start the league's second season and excite the fans and further develop the sport and players.

The inaugural MAHL season ended with the Indiana Ice Miners winning the regular season championship after posting an astonishing 31-1-0 record.

MAHL to hold meeting
04/30/08 - Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL)

CANTON, OH - The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League will conduct its annual ownership meeting on May 3rd and 4th in Canton, Ohio. The meeting will address the 2008-2009 MAHL season which is set to begin in November 2008.
Additional items to be discussed include the pending announcements of two MAHL expansion teams in Michigan. The MAHL ownership meetings will review and consider equipment deals for the MAHL second season.

In other issues of importance to the MAHL and its member teams, two head coaching positions remain available to interested candidates. Those interested in these open positions should contact the MAHL offices with their letters of interest and resumes at info@mahlhockey.com This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The MAHL league meetings also will address the open general manager positions in four franchises. Those interested in these open positions should contact the MAHL offices with their letters of interest and resumes at info@mahlhockey.com This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

MAHL fans will be excited to know that their teams have conducted successful player tryouts and the teams are already building their rosters for the 2008-2009 season.

April has been an exciting month for the MAHL. The league signed a one-year agreement with FANZ-TV to broadcast a Game-of-the-Week in the MAHL as well as the entire postseason schedule next season. The deal included an optional two-year extension. The deal also includes a "This Week in the MAHL" program.

April also included the signing of an agreement between the league and PHN, Inc. to provide media relations services to the MAHL and its member franchises.

The league offices are planning the announcement of a weekly radio show hosted by the MAHL president with reports from each franchise and beat writers in each city. Of note: We have heard very little about player tryouts to be excited about.
If the post-season in '09 is anything like '08, showing all of the games on FANZ-
TV shouldn't be very difficult. Pleeaassse, don't let the radio show be like Joe
Newmans sales pitch for the ABA. Nothing screams "my teams gonna win
big" more then hiring coaches and general managers (and owners) via the
internet.

It will be interesting to see if every team from 07-08 is moved like in the NEHL
every season. I would have to doubt that the lineup we see in May will ever
make it to the ice intact, in November. Right now, Indiana looks like the only
holdover.

BTW -- OSC editors...good call in changing the titles of these from "MAHL
Update 1" and "MAHL Update 2".
Adios, OSC message boards. (2007-2017)
