Olesiak, a Chicago native, will continue to work with the NBA and WNBA as an observer of officials.
We are extremely fortunate that Ron has agreed to join our staff, said Ed Schumer, commissioner of the PBL. His experience on the court and his knowledge about NBA administrative procedures brings tremendous value to the Premier Basketball League. With his vision and ability to teach, train, and develop officials, I believe we will be able to build the best staff of minor league referees in the country. This is yet another example of our commitment to make the Premier Basketball League the preeminent professional basketball minor league in North America, Schumer said.
One of Olesiaks first duties will be to run the leagues first Officials Certification Clinic at the upcoming league combine, October 19-20 in Bloomington, Ill. Prospective officials will receive classroom instruction including video review, testing, and certification. There will also be on court observation and instruction in conjunction with the games being played as part of the combine. Cost for the clinic is $100.
Officials interested in attending the clinic should go to http://thepbl.com/ref-application for more information and to register online.
