Parker Named 2008 Macon Music Manager

Post by kekemortson » Sun Mar 23, 2008 6:56 pm

The Macon Music and South Coast League of Professional Baseball announced Tuesday the promotion of assistant coach Chad Parker to the role of manager for the 2008 season.

Parker served as the director of operations for the team and as an assistant to Coach Phil Plantier during the 2007 Inaugural Season.

"It's phenomenal that we can have a class act guy like Chad Parker be the head of a model franchise and represent our league and the Macon team in a positive, professional manner," said league CEO, Jamie Toole.

"Not only is Chad an outstanding coach, but he's a great evaluator of young talent. Really, he is a jack of all trades. Chad has done it all for our league, including singing the National Anthem."

Parker did wear many hats in his first year in the league, but it is the manager's hat he likes the best.

"I am excited to be the leader for so many aspiring young ball players and help them in their pursuit of becoming the best they can be as a player and an individual," said Chad Parker, Macon Music Manager.

"It is a goal of mine to have a positive impact on the players I coach and I stress the importance of excellence on and off the field constantly. To me, success is a daily decision."

The Music look to avenge the bittersweet ending to last season, which saw the team win the second half championship only to lose to the archrival South Georgia Peanuts in the South Coast League Championship.

The team will feature many new faces on the field, as many of last year's players were brought in from the west coast via Coach Plantier, however, there will be some familiar faces returning.

Coach Parker will look to continue the balance of last year's offense and pitching which saw the Music fall in the top three spots in almost every statistical category.

All that aside, Coach Parker will seek guys that play hard every time out and bring good character and a positive, 'team-first' attitude.

The coaching staff for Coach Parker will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Our team is going to be centered around pitching, defense, and athleticism. I hope to bring in coaches that bring the same philosophy and work ethic," said Parker.
