Well done, Pounder. I had not even thought of Spokane. El Paso has a big enough park to use right now, and I think they would have no problem drawing more fans than are showing up in Tucson. San Antonio's park is too small, and it is also out in the sticks--something bigger would have to be built, a...
There are a lot of reasons not to take the PASL seriously. The Del Mar Arena would be pretty far down the list. The Sockers are drawing fans, which is more than you can say about a lot of people. And, most importantly, they're not bleeding money like almost ev...

The Sockers get minimal coverage--I don't remember the last time they had a box score shown. I don't even think the UT takes them all that seriously; maybe their reporters don't like sitting exposed to the elements to cover their games. The Xolos don't get much coverage either; they are treated abou...
What can I say? I'm enthusiastic the leagues bumped up to 7 teams and a longer schedule (though I'd think it should be at least 18-home and 18-away games.) Nevertheless, the league is looking fairly decent. And no Mass. or Chicago like teams that play in arena...

Escondido is not completely dead; they are just waiting for court decisions on whether the State of Crazyfornia can legally take local redevelopment monies to dump into the state coffers. By January there should be some type of court decision on that point, and then either Escondido will build a new...

Gee, all San Diego needs is arena ownership that is pro-hockey, or perhaps a new building--probably both. I am 57, so I don't expect to see that in my lifetime.

Future of Bakersfield

How can Bakersfield continue to survive? They are averaging less than 600 per game. As of November 2012, the Blaze have apparently answered the question--they have announced plans for a new ballpark to be ready by the 2014 season. I wonder who is paying for it???

Bumping this thread (and replying to myself). It appears that Bakersfield will get a new stadium all right; it just probably won't be in Bakersfield. Midway through the 2011 season, the Blaze are averaging around 600 paid per game--I would say the clock is ticking on the franchise moving.
Their final schedule has Henderson, Long Beach, Omaha, Orange County and Tucson as approved for 2012, but it says there are 6 additional teams approved for 2012 in the release. Anyone know what the sixth is?
Considering the Padres AAA team will still be p...

Well, after all, it is Tucson and it will be summer time, so I am in agreement with you. Besides, don't forget, beer is food too.
