Longing for Indy's Return
All these sound like great ideas. Here's a few more. One of the things that impressed me as a fan was the bidding war for game-worn t-shirts on Pink Ribbon night in Albany. I realize that that was for charity, but some of those ugly, cheap, pink t-shirts went for over $100 each. (I still have the on...

Plan vs Assumption
The problem with most business plans are not that they're too narrow or that they aren't implemented faithfully. The problems always arise from the assumptions made in the planning process. IF we're assuming any attendance or IF we're assuming corporate sponsorships, we're opening ourselves up for d...

Backwoods Baseball
Personally, I prefer 'Backwoods' to 'Bush'. It's much more Southern. This could all prove to be moot given current and projected fuel costs. Everyone I know is limiting their travel, so the regional teams popular in Indy baseball may prove a difficult draw. Albany has to depend on something like a d...

Income Problems
[quote=""Baseball Insider""] Trust me, in Macon, toward the end, they were getting no more than 800 people on decent weeknights. Matbe a little more on Thirsty Thursdays, but not much. In the heat wave, there were some games of no more than 300. There was one game that they had a...

Hmmm. Baseball in town again.....
As for myself, I would LOVE to see Baseball in Albany again. However, I agree that it's a near impossible task for the SCL to resurrect itself. The problems centered not only in the amount of debt, but in the nature of the debt as well. The hotels used by the league in the various cities refused to ...

Player's Fate/Not all bad news
The Joliet Jackhammers are reporting on their website that they have picked up the contracts on Nick Prosise, Doc Brooks, Drew Shetrone, Shannon Wirth, Dustin Tayor, Mike Collacchio from the South Georgia Peanuts & Dorian Rojas from the Macon Music. I haven't heard about any of the other players...

Albany? Hmmm
Now that minor-league baseball in The Good Life City is officially dead, you may be right. Also, given the fact that it sits empty most of the year, I would think the league could get the Civic Center at fire-sale prices right now. They haven't offered a concert there in years. I know if I were the ...

R.I.P South Coast League
I recently asked, "Is this it for the SCL?" I have my answer, now. I realize that the owners say they are planning on a re-activation in 2009, but my reading of their announcement is that if a re-activation does occur, it won't happen with them owning the league. That pretty well indicates...

Needed Facilities
Tallahassee has a civic center that would serve nicely as a hockey rink, and used to be the home of the Tiger Sharks. It has a large snow-bird population, and should make a decent draw. Albany (Ga) has a smaller facility, but it has the ability to convert to an ice rink. However, they don't have the...
