Minor league ball vs going overseas
Guys: These are interesting lists, with names of players that I have not seen, or only once. Its the age old question of playing overseas vs minor league ball in the States. Question, I have seen guys get called up from the developement league and the CBA, but not the ABA or other minor leagues. I w...

Where is Mateen Cleaves playing this year?
Folks: I am trying to locate where Mateen Cleaves, the former Mich State guard who has played for Detroit, Sacramento, Cleveland and Seattle in the NBA as well as the NBDL is playing this year. Is he in the CBA, overseas, in an NBA camp? Anybody who has any info, it would be appreciated? None of the...

Working agreements, loans and free agents
Hockey Fan: Another factor to deal with is how you find the players. Players from college and junior graduate each year and only some are drafted. To see them , you neeed to hold or attend free agent tryout camps to look for players. An experienced coach and GM is important. One who knows the ins an...

Too much Wings and other compeititon and bad facility
I went to some games last year, and some this year. It is not bad hockey, there are just too many other teams (wings, junior, college) in the area for them to make it. The only way is if they became a wings farm team, and I don't really think even then. Plus the arena is just not big enough. Try fit...

The ECHL and UHL and Detroit
Chief: If you want a team to relocate from a struggling area, try the Motor City Mechanics of the United League. They really are not making it for a number of reasons. One, there is too much compeitition. Besides the Wings, there is junior, college and high school and youth hockey are big there. Las...

Have always wondered about the league differences
Guys: This is my first post in this forum, but its a good discussion. I used to go watch the CBA in Detroit where I live in the early 80's. I recall seeing Terry Duerod, Walker D. Russell, Kevin Smith, Eric Turner and seeing seasoned pros like Campy Russell (Cavs, Knicks) and guys like that. I can s...

I like the CFL just the way it is folks
Folks: This is my first posting on the board, but being in Detroit I see my share of CFL games through the local CBC affiliate in Windsor. I say keep the league and style of play just the way it is. I for one do not want it to be like the NFL, with brute force, power and strength. There are three th...
