It is not good for your business to have enthusiasts run off your site by abusive trolls, preeths. I practically have stopped coming to some sections because of Sam Hill. So less ad earnings for you. As for Sam Hill, since the leagues are going to die anyway, you serve absolutely no purpose here exc...

Maybe conventional ownership can't work at all in this situation. Let's say that you made each team a non-profit athletic club. Then these sold annual memberships that in effect made season-ticket holders into shareholders, controlling 51% of the shares while the league continued to hold 49%. Certai...

Houston exposed the problem with these leagues. The bigger the city you have = the more quality unemployed football players living nearby = the fewer people who actually care to watch them play. The only way around it is for small town teams to sneak money under the table to get talent from around t...

Kentucky in the UIFL last year, a harbinger of a turn for the worse in that league, especially since the player ...

Another thing I noticed about the photos. The Outlaws apparently wanted to use the team colors of the original USFL Outlaws, black, red and gold. But they couldn't find jerseys and pants in the right colors. They seem to have the players wearing as much red gear as possible, red socks, red undershir...

I think the only thing that could overcome a substantial difference in pay is the ability to get the players you need without them having to give up their day jobs. Maybe the reason Houston was able to put together such a good team so quickly is that our metro area is huge and full of former amateur...

You know, Sam, that the USFL took the vote to move to the fall before the 1985 season was played. Therefore half the teams were lame ducks that season, and the fans knew it. That's why attendance collapsed. If they'd never taken the vote, they had big ABC TV contracts waiting for them in the spring.
