I just can't see how the league positioned itself to be an NFL replacement.
Your points are valid. At the same time, with generic uniforms and an erratic playing schedule, I can hardly see how they expected to be considered as an NFL alternative in 200...
Does this mean the UFL is learning from the mistakes of older leagues and cutting away from a market that was not really gaining traction before it was too late, or does it mean the UFL is on the verge of collapse and was unable to succeed in a market that sho...

2011 schedule announced

And it looks like 2011 will be much like 2010, except with different names. Six teams, one a traveling team, 10 game season, four teams make the playoffs. So the miniature triumph of getting the Silverbacks into a stadium of their own is muted by the "Indianapolis" travel team. Oops. Offic...

Wolfpack shut down

The team finally announced what had become pretty apparent... The Wisconsin Wolfpack indoor and outdoor football franchises thank their fans for their support of the teams since 2008. Unfortunately, the Wolfpack indoor franchise will not be fielding a team in 2011 while the outdoor franchise will be...

We're still talking about a league which had to cancel games due to a mid-season franchise shutdown in its most recent season. I think that kind of eliminates you from "best of" contention. (And if you can't find a league with a less-glaring wart, then I think the Academy just doesn't issu...

It seems pretty obvious to me that the relevance of the tryout athlete being a high school dropout is that high school dropouts do not have careers in the NFL. It is, like many casual stories about the AFL or other non-National football leagues, a story about a lower-tier league offering opportuniti...

Has anybody heard anything about the Wolfpack? They have seemed like one of the more competent and attentive organizations, but they're the only listed CIFL franchise not to have announced a tryout date. Maybe they're still too focused on the outdoor season?

Man. The CIFL is really going to make a go of 2011. Amazing.

The league site lists the Commandos' upcoming tryout date, so either the Commandos didn't jump leagues like was widely telegraphed after the season ended, or somebody hasn't broken the news to them yet...
I'm not so sure which would be worse, going dark or playing another year in the CIFL. This shoe-string budget football sucks.
Heh, ouch. For my part, I'm content with the value-for-money proposition of the CIFL and equally happy to have AFL teams a reas...

It even happened to Microsoft some years ago, I believe back in the late 90s--they let microsoft.com lapse. Somebody else picked up the renewal tab for them and got his 15 minutes of Net fame.
