Same League?
Please don't forget about teams such as the Indiana Pacers, Kentucky Colonels, and New York Nets (among others), who played for almost a decade in the same ABA city. ( http://abalive.com/history/ ) Obviously we are talking about the same league, right? Dave
Oh,...

Name Just One

Has ANY ABA team lasted six years and, if one did, how was that accomplished on an average turnout of 200 "fans"? We know pre-season tryouts provide seed money by bilking candidates out of $100, but were coaches and players paid? How about the rent on a YMCA gym?

SE TX Mavericks

Mr. New Era mentions the Mavs but there has been no mention of them going anywhere. Especially at their former venue, Nutty Jerry's in Winnie TX, which is now an indoor playhouse with go carts, bumper cars, mini golf, etc.

Save yourself from cluster headaches: write a $10,000 check to the ABA, tear it in tiny pieces and flush down the toilet.

South Carolina Warriors' Coach Chris Beard appears to be one of the frontrunners for the head coaching job at Lamar State College-Port Arthur (Texas). Among Beard's supporters is Pat Knight, head coach at nearby Lamar University-Beaumont. Beard was on Knight's staff when he coached at Texas Tech. A ...

Sellout Crowds: Maybe!
Dick Packer said "...and we anticipate a sellout at every session." Hey Dick - Care to make a friendly wager? I attended the ABA tournament in Nashville a few seasons ago. It appeared the only "paid attendees" were me and a family of four from Owensboro...all wearing K...

Remember Last Season?

A semifinalist -- one of four teams still standing at the end of a season
marked by fold-ups and foul-ups -- couldn't muster funds to travel from
California to Beaumont.
