Before changing their team name (along with their move to UIF), their operating name was appropriately the Mutineers. On September 15, 2006, the Rough Riders officially folded. The owners of hockey's Peoria Rivermen plan to put an af2 franchise in Peoria for 2008.

STEEL VALLEY SMASH - 1999-2000
They were originally going to play as the Wheeling Ironmen, but fear of a lawsuit from the AFL, which awards the Ironman of the Year trophy, forced a change in their nickname. The Smash name was taken from the Sioux Falls franchise.
