Sioux Falls Cobras League: Indoor Football League 1 (IFL 1) Home: None, None Active: 2000

Originally slated to be the Sioux Falls Smash in 1999, the South Dakota franchise instead joined the league in 2000 as the Cobras. In the meantime, the Smash nickname was re-assigned to the Wheeling, WV team. Upon expansion in 2000, the IFL gave the new Sioux Falls franchise the nickname "Cobras."

When the IFL ceased operations following the 2000 season, a new franchise, the Storm, began play in the National Indoor Football League, keeping indoor football alive in Sioux Falls.
