Originally slated to be the Erie Xpress in 1999, the Pennsylvania franchise would wait until 2000 to join the league as the Invaders.

After the IFL ceased operations following the 2000 season, Erie had to wait until 2005, when the Atlantic Indoor Football League's Erie Freeze took the field, to see indoor football again.
