Default The Cicero Cometas have folded

According to owner Javier Haggar, the Cicero Cometas have folded. Facing another schedule change yesterday that included the cancellation of tonight's scheduled game because the opponent wasn't going to show, Haggar decided to pull the plug.

Javier will now focus in a real league and can be the Latin American Liason to The PBL. I expect to see Javier and the PBL guys at the FIBA Americas League on December 3rd.

Too bad. I watched them play against the Stunners and they were a great team.

With this news and the news of Peoria folding, the Stunners are quickly running out of teams to play against. The midwest really looks bad now.

I think sooner or later, Chancellor Newman was gonna find out Javier owned a team in the PBL and then kick him out of the ABA...

How many teams are we down to now? It keeps shrinking by the second so I have lost track.

The league will not survive until the end of the year. The problems are recurring, they are predictable, and constant.

Cicero Cometas USA (H)
South Chi-Land Infernos (A)

A Chicago team can't travel to play another Chicago team for a league scheduled game ...

But 18 teams are going to travel to Singapore to play the Beijing Aoshen Olympian

Thats very well put Magician. Very well put.

If a guy can't get a little yellow bus to go across town how is this league possibly going to get from Halifax, to Honolulu, to Singapore.

Unless Joes so far unannounced airline deal is with Air Nova Scotia-Hawaii-Singapore comes through quick Fells is right. The league is going to collapse in on itself.

Incredibly I think Singaporeans will come out to see a US team play. The poor players on the visiting team will have no per diem but be playing in front of 9000.

As an aside does anyone know how the Singapore Sling did in the ABL? I think this is their 3rd year. Oh ya, hey Joe, anyone mention that to you. SIngapore already has a team in another countries league?

You guys got it all wrong. The ABA CEO should not be focused on whether or not half the league folds before Christmas. The ABA CEO is correctly focused on concert promotion, hosiery deals and writing copy for the weekly update from the trainer on how to deal with a pulled groin.

With all that, actually playing games is secondary.

If McDonald's can make a go of it in Singapore, then so can the ABA.

Why is this obvious to everyone but Joe? He just keeps going along, making
far-out deals and cashing checks. I wonder how many A.B.A. games he attends...

From what I can tell, the number of teams is 29, that varies from different
sources and the fact that ABAlive can't be honest enough to remove a team from
the active list when it folds.
