Default AIF 2014 schedule announced

The 2014 AIF schedule has been posted as a downloadable PDF file from the linked website article. Cleveland will host York in the March 21st league opener. The Washington Eagles are listed as the league's seventh team with an all road schedule.

7 game schedule. Baltimore has 4 home games. Weird schedule. Couldn't they at least have 10 games? Whatever, I plan to attend at least 2 of their games. Hopefully as unlikely as it seems they can build it up later. I mean just 4 years ago they had a full 14 game schedule and playoffs after that. Maybe they can find somebody else to embezzle money to finance the league again? lol.

Also keep in mind that the AIF's 2014 team lineup is more geographically spread out than 2013 with franchises from Atlanta to York to Cleveland. Expenses clearly have to be reduced wherever possible.

Makes no sense why they spread it out that much? I'd try to get maybe 6-8 solid teams within say a 200 mile radius of DC, I think it could be done.

That's the problem. Once you discount PIFL teams, there just aren't 6-8 solid would be team owners left within that radius.

The best bet for these types of leagues would be to keep it regional. Really, a league something like the old AIFA East

Baltimore
Harrisburg
Richmond
New Jersey
Erie
Fayetteville

that kinda makes sense, maybe add some cities like York, Morgantown, Wheeling, Youngstown, smaller towns with not much to do it might be better than trying to add Cleveland, Chicago and NY.

The Washington Eagles were kept around for schedule filler as a travel-only beat up team. They play York twice, Rochester twice, and Baltimore & Cleveland once each. For York and Rochester that's two guaranteed wins right out the gates, while only playing a seven game schedule.

I'm not sure how many teams make the playoffs, but they're scheduled for two weeks, so that's either 3 or 4 teams.

Check out York's schedule. They play 3 games in the last 7 weeks, all against Baltimore. Plus they don't play at home in the last 4 weeks of the season.
