Default Adrenaline players have filed suit against owners

I found out that two players from the Arizona Adrenaline have filed documents in the Prescott Justice Court system against the coach, and both owners from the Arizona Adrenaline. It looks like each player is sueing for $2500.00 (I would guess they have not been paid for playing football)) Here are the links to view each.....along with the roster from the Adrenaline website so you can see these are players.

Both docs were filed on Dec 5th.

I also understand that a former employee is filing suit as well.

They won't win that law suit. We had the same thing happen in Huntington Wv and the lawyers after 3 months of fighting said that it was going to cost more to fight for the money then what the players were asking for. Player and Coaches have to realize that you just have to write it off as a lose. It happens 3 or 4 times a year and the owners get away with it every time. It sucks it shouldn't be that way but it is.

And the sad part of it is that the league office knows about this and Does NOTHING to help the players, What they need to do is go to the Media there regarding this if they dont get paid, Also saw where JB is the GM of the Stampede team, AND what does he do for the League office, double dipping here, And I wonder what the cost of the Team office there in the MALL and WHO is paying for it. I bet it is from LEAGUE DUES,,,,,what do ya think.

If you had lawyers telling you that it would cost more to go to court than you would win, your filing suit in the wrong court. Small lawsuits (under $6,000 in most states) belong in small claims court where you dont hire lawyers and the cost to file is under $100.

Get enough publicity in the media and you won't need a lawyer. Even if you don't get any money, get some satisfaction having the people who didn't pay like they should exposed to the public so hopefully others won't be scammed by them in the future.

I dunno, get a website started or something...

I see they're asking for the max they can under small claims court. Probably smart, even if they are owed more, as the process is much more straight-forward. And, no lawyers.

Lightbulb This is a small claims filing.. read the docket info

The cost so far is 23 for filing and 95 for process serving. The defendants were served with papers informing them of the civil action against them.
Most of the time the judge will issue a ruling against the defendants and a payment schedule will be mandated on the defendants.
If they do not show up for court a default judgment will be ordered by the court and a lien or garnishment may be placed on the defendants.
So for 118 dollars the plaintiff may gain relief from the defendants. In this case it is worth the effort to gain justice.
Just sayin' jack.

Incorrect, if the defendants lose the lawsuit, be it by default judgment or by losing the case, a judge will not mandate payment. The judge only issues a judgment, it is still up to the plaintiffs (i.e. the ones suing) to collect upon that judgment.

A judge can only order payment for criminal actions, not civil.

The other problem is there may be nothing to collect on. These teams don't pay their players (and coaches and staff and vendors and arena and everybody else they don't pay) not because they don't want to (with the exception of some documented con men) but because they are broke. There is no blood left in the turnip. If the owner structures his corporation (or LLC) properly, it's usually hard to touch the personal assets of the owner and the team just files for bankruptcy.
