Default New League Rule - Affects Assigned Players

How about this one...just heard from a really reliable source:

the NBA this year is going to be more involved with the Dleague. And get this. The NBA will allow players who are "rehabbing" to be sent down for rehab assignment. That should allow more fans to engage in the game, and draw bigger crowds.

What do you all think?

I think the NBA might want to look into sending some of its refs to the D-League for rehab assignments.

Yeah...what a black eye Tim Donaghy is trying to give the NBA...you know I hope (and I think so, too) that Donaghy is really just a bitter, full-of-crap idiot!

I do tend to agree with what Doc Rivers said - the league should have an independant company that controls and monitors the referees! It wouldn't hurt the league to do so!

Maybe Shaq will play in Albuquerque next year?

I can see Shaq or Steve Nash, or someone like that making a difference, but not too much excitement for the bench players coming down.

Any word on who will be coaching here? And where is the team planning on playing.

Not to stray too far off topic, but this is also troubling:

Albuquerque is no longer affiliated with Phoenix so that won't be happening for sure. Their new affiliates are Dallas and Miami.

Looking at the new affiliations, and with the exception of Dakota, Tulsa, and possibly Sioux Falls {don't know my upper midwest geography all that good} the teams are now being paired with a fairly close team. And one team that is out of their region.

Is this a new trend? Other than there are no east coast teams yet, given the geographical placement and closeness of these affiliations that one might be able to guesstimate the placement of the other teams, after further expansion.

Albuquerque-Dallas
Anaheim-Los Angeles
Austin-San Antonio
Bakersfield-Golden State
Colorado-Denver
Erie-Cleveland
Ft. Wayne-Detroit and Indianapolis both?
Idaho-Portland
Iowa-Chicago
D-Fenders-Lakers
Orem-Utah

So, that would leave teams without convenient and/or close affiliations as:
Miami
Atlanta
Orlando
NJ
Memphis
Washington
Philadelphia
Toronto
New York
New Orleans
Charlotte
Milwaukee
Seattle
Boston

Anyway, just bored.

Pairing Tulsa with Seattle makes sense since the Sonics are likely headed to OKC. And Sioux Falls is fairly close to Minneapolis, so that just leaves Dakota as the oddball team.

The league needs to take another shot at the east coast, but in different cities. Now that the league has expanded and is more well known to NBA fans, it might have better luck this time around.
