Default Unacceptable' move by Civic Center leaves SPHL points champion Rivermen blocked out

The Peoria Rivermen earned home-ice advantage for the SPHL playoffs with a record-filled performance this season.

And on Monday, the team acknowledged the Peoria Civic Center has left them homeless.
The facility has already booked a monster truck show called Monster Jam, and a religious event, that will block Carver Arena from April 14-24, inclusive.

That means the SPHL regular-season points champion Rivermen — who are 36-12-3, won a league-record 14 straight games and have been in first place nearly the entire season — will have to play postseason games at Owens Center.

That public rink is home to the junior hockey Peoria Mustangs and has a capacity of about 950. The Rivermen have more than 1,000 season ticket holders in 2015-16. They drew an average 2,292 to a pair of first-round playoff games last spring at Carver Arena. And attendance customarily increases in subsequent rounds.

It’s an unacceptable blow dealt by the Civic Center to an anchor tenant trying to build and maintain a professional image in the community.

Not sure what the blogger was expecting was going to happen here. This type thing happens all the time. Even recently there was a WWE conflict with an NBA playoff game.

There is normally an order of operation type of agreement put in place. For example the Georgia Dome in Atlanta is home to the Falcons, High School Events, Georgia State, and Chick-fil-a kickoff. In the agreement if they all want to play on the same weekend someone has to move around days. Last season Georgia State played on a Friday, the Falcons took the Thursday, The Chick-fila-kickoff was Saturday and Corky Kell High School game needed to move to a different location (Grady Stadium).

I am sure it is built in to the contract somewhere what exactly happens with conflicted dates.
