The Tampa Bay Bandits and the newly crowned USFL Champion Philadelphia Stars combined to provide an entertaining game for 21,000 fans on July 21st at Wembley Stadium. Understandably, after a long hard season, several starters were used only sparingly and we had barely a glimpse of the Stars' outstanding running back Kelvin Bryant. Still the game provided an opportunity for several of the lesser known players to impress their coaches and stake an early claim for a spot on next season's roster. One such player was Tim Riordan, who completed 18 of 26 passes for 201 yards, 3 touchdowns and was intercepted only once. There was a fitting climax to the game when the Stars' safety Scott Woerner intercepted Jimmy Jordan's pass in the end zone with 12 seconds remaining, to preserve a 24-21 victory.
