Oakland 9 at Tampa Bay 29

Mike Kelley, making his first pro start, passed for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns tonight to lead the Tampa Bay Bandits to a 29-9 victory over the Oakland Invaders in the United States Football League. Kelley, who started at quarterback because of injuries to John Reaves and Jimmy Jordan, completed 21 of 40 passes. His touchdown passes were for 21 yards to Eric Truvillion and 16 yards to Willie Gillespie.
