Los Angeles(AP) - Quarterback Bobby Hebert threw three touchdown passes Sunday, two of them to wide receiver Anthony Carter, to lead the Oakland Invaders to a convincing 30-6 United States Football League victory over the struggling Los Angeles Express.
The win was the third in a row for the Invaders, who raised their overall record to 4-1-1. The Express, playing without starting quarterback Steve Young, who is sidelined with a hyperextended left knee, fell to 1-5.
The Invaders went ahead to stay on a 48-yard scoring bomb from Hebert to Carter after 7:18 of play. Carter made a brilliant diving catch of the ball In the Los Angeles end zone. Novo Bojovlc's conversion attempt was blocked by Howard Carson.
Oakland made it 13-0 early In the second period when Carter recovered a fumble by teammate Brian Williams in the Los Angeles end zone. Williams was hit on the Los Angeles 1-yard line by John Warren and fumbled at the end of a 15-yard pass play and Carter recovered the loose ball for atouchdown.
