January 21, 2017 - Hoping to kick off Children's Miracle Network weekend on a high note, the Wildcats fell flat to the Lone Star Brahmas in a disappointing 5-1 defeat. A sentimental pre-game slideshow honoring Parents' Night may have doused the fire in the Wildcats' hearts, as they did not jump out to a good start against their rivals. January 1, 2017 - The Wildcats ended their month-long stretch of road games with a 6-2 victory to sweep the Topeka RoadRunners on New Year's Day. What was expected to be a high-scoring game did not yield any first period goals. The early 2 pm start had some players appearing hesitant in the opening 20 minutes. December 31, 2016 - A back-and-forth game at the Kansas Expocentre ended in regulation on New Year's Eve, with the Wildcats edging the RoadRunners by a 5-4 final. An early opportunity for Jeff Skinner on a breakaway was turned aside by Topeka's Ryan Snowden, who made a tremendous blocker save to start the game. Adamant to avoid being swept for the first time of the season, the Cats dominated the first period of play.
