Smokies Announce Roster Moves - August 31

August 31, 2016 - SEVIERVILLE - Prior to this evening's game, the Chicago Cubs have announced a series of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster. Chicago announced that RHP Jonathan Martinez has been transferred from High-A Myrtle Beach and INF Stephen Bruno has been transferred from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, RHP Brad Markey has been placed on the Disabled List. Caratini and Young Named Southern League Postseason All-Stars

August 30, 2016 - SEVIERVILLE - Tuesday afternoon the Southern League announced its Postseason All-Stars for the 2016 regular season. Among the 15 honorees was Tennessee Smokies' catcher Victor Caratini, who was selected as the catcher for the squad, and infielder Chesny Young, who was chosen as the league's utility player. August 29, 2016 - RHP Tyler Skulina allowed just two hits and one earned run over 6.2 innings, but it was not enough. Birmingham scored once in the first and twice in the seventh, as the Barons shutout the Tennessee Smokies, 3-0, on Monday night in front of 3,370 fans at Smokies Stadium.
