February 15, 2017 - Edmonton- The Edmonton Eskimos have re-signed free agent defensive end Phillip Hunt . He entered the CFL in 2009 with the Blue Bombers. In two seasons with Winnipeg, he recorded 55 defensive tackles and 19 quarterback sacks in 25 games. The six-foot, 248-pound native of Texas went to the NFL in 2011. February 10, 2017 - (Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimos mourn the passing of former scout Ray Newman, who passed away at the age of 92. Newman joined the Eskimos in 1978 and was an integral member of the Green and Gold's five-in-a-row Grey Cup dynasty from 1978 to 1982. Before arriving in Edmonton, Newman was an NFL scout with the New Orleans Saints from 1967 to 1971 and the San Diego Chargers from 1971 to 1978.
