Winterhawks Fall 3-1 to Everett Friday

October 1, 2016 - The Portland Winterhawks (2-1-0-0) fell 3-1 to the visiting Everett Silvertips (3-0-0-0) Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Everett struck first when Patrick Bajkov scored at 11:48 to give the visitors a 1-0 lead, but the Hawks responded with a shorthanded goal at 15:48 when Caleb Jones intercepted a pass in his own end, rushed up ice and made a great feed to Alex Overhardt, who banged it in for a 1-1 tie. Winterhawks Name Keegan Iverson Captain

September 30, 2016 - Portland Winterhawks Vice President, General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston has announced that Keegan Iverson has been named the team's captain. Iverson is set to make his season debut tonight after missing opening weekend while in training camp with the NHL's Minnesota Wild. He enters his 20-year-old season tied for 30th in team history with 238 games played, and he's posted career totals of 54 goals and 66 assists for 120 points. The team is at home Friday vs. Everett in Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in a game that will be the unveiling of the arena's new videoboards. Following that game the Hawks head out on an eight-game road trip, and won't be at home again until October 18. September 25, 2016 - The Portland Winterhawks (2-0-0-0) capped a great opening weekend as they earned a 7-3 win over the Tri-City Americans (1-1-0-0) Sunday at the Moda Center. Portland is 2-0 after its first two games with matching 7-3 wins, and their 14 goals lead the WHL. The Hawks started strong with lots of early pressure, and it paid off at 5:06 when defenseman Henri Jokiharju scored the first goal of his WHL career for a 1-0 lead.
