Defense Struggles, Castellani Doesn't in 3-0 Loss

May 30, 2016 - San Jose, CA. - Ryan Castellani was tremendous but Sam Coonrod was better as the Modesto Nuts lost 3-0 against the San Jose Giants on Monday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. Castellani (L, 1-5) was betrayed by his defense in his tenth start for the Nuts (20-31). The Nuts committed a season-high five errors but Castellani was good enough to allow just one unearned run. May 29, 2016 - Modesto, CA. - Sam Howard pitched the Modesto Nuts to an 8-0 triumph over the San Jose Giants on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 4,061 at John Thurman Field. In his start for the Nuts (20-29) Howard (W, 3-3) battled some control issues in the first three innings walking three batters.
