Rockets Hire New Coach

July 6, 2016 - The Kelowna Rockets are pleased to announce the hiring of Jason Smith as the team's new head coach. Smith, a former captain of the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers, played 1,008 games over a 15-year career in the NHL, and was most recently an assistant coach with the NHL's Ottawa Senators for the past two seasons. "I'm really excited that we have a found a new head coach and I think that he will fit in really well with the team we have and the existing coaching staff," said Rockets President/GM Bruce Hamilton. WHL Announces 2016-17 Regular Season Schedule

June 27, 2016 - Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League released today the schedule of games for the 2016-17 WHL Regular Season. The regular season schedule will begin on Friday, September 23rd as nine teams host season-opening games. The Kelowna Rockets will open the WHL season with a home and home series against Kamloops. The two teams will play Friday, September 23 in Kamloops before the Rockets home opener on Saturday, September 24 vs. Kamloops at Prospera Place. Four Rockets Drafted at NHL Draft in Buffalo

June 25, 2016 - Four members of the Kelowna Rockets were selected this weekend at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft in Buffalo. After defenceman Lucas Johansen was made a first-round selection by the Washington Capitals (28th overall), on Friday night, three more Rockets were chosen on Saturday in the closing rounds of the draft. Dillon Dube went to Calgary in the second round, picked 58th, before Swiss import Calvin Thurkauf (7th round, 185 overall) was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets and defenceman Braydyn Chizen (7th, 204) was drafted...
