Collin Shirley Named Kamloops Blazers Captain

August 24, 2016 - Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have announced that 20-year-old Collin Shirley has been named Captain of the 2016-17 Kamloops Blazers. "I'm thrilled, excited and honoured to be the captain of the Blazers," said Shirley. "I look forward to the challenges ahead and can't wait to get the season started." Shirley was acquired by the Blazers in October 2013 from the Kootenay Ice. He has played a total of 274 WHL games, including 203 with the Kamloops Blazers, over the past four seasons. Training Camp Schedule Announced

August 19, 2016 - Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers will host a goaltender camp and skill development ice sessions starting on Tuesday, August 23rd to start their 2016-17 Training Camp. The goaltender camp will be led by Kamloops Blazers Goaltender Coach, Dan De Palma and the Dallas Stars Goaltender Coach, Jeff Reese. Reese played 11 NHL seasons and has been an NHL Goaltender Coach for 17 seasons, spending time with Tampa Bay and Philadelphia before joining Dallas. Reese is in his second season with the Stars. August 18, 2016 - Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have acquired 19-year-old defenseman Joe Gatenby, 18-year-old defenseman Daniel Gatenby and a conditional fifth round pick in 2019 for 18-year-old forward Jake Kryski. Blazers Have Seven Players at NHL Development Camps

July 6, 2016 - Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have seven current roster players and two recently graduated players that have attended NHL Development Camps in the early part of July. In Dallas, Nick Chyzowski is attending his first NHL Development Camp. The 19-year-old had 15 goals and 25 points playing in all 72 games last season.
