Gateway Bullpen Shines Despite Loss in Series Opener

July 26, 2016 - Sauget, Ill. - The Gateway Grizzlies dropped Tuesday night's game 4-3 to the Schaumburg Boomers despite a stellar performance from Gateway's bullpen. Four relievers combined to throw 5.1 innings without surrendering a hit as Schaumburg still won the series opener. After LHP Jon Jones (2-2) allowed four runs in the fourth inning, RHP Jon Pusateri replaced him and retired all four batters he faced. The Grizzlies (30-31) got to Windy City starter Clay Chapman immediately in the first inning, as Cody Livesay walked to start the game and Craig Massoni later drove him in with an RBI single. July 22, 2016 - Crestwood, Ill. - The Gateway Grizzlies dropped the opener of a three-game series against the Windy City ThunderBolts on Friday night, 4-2. Windy City (28-30) used a three-run second inning against Gateway starter Adam Eggnatz (2-4) to pull ahead early. The Grizzlies (29-31) would get a couple of the runs back but never tie the game.
