New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

The Zephyrs and Albuquerque played a back and fourth game on Saturday but in the end the Isotopes score a run in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Z's 9-8 in front of 9,005 fans at Isotopes Park. AJ Ellis single through the left side of the infield drives in the game winning run and Albuquerque walks off the field a winner. The loss is the Zephyrs fifth in a row and New Orleans falls to 0-7 in Albuquerque this season.

A wild game that had each team over-come several deficits. New Orleans scored first with a mammoth home run from John Lindsey off the scoreboard in left center field. Z's starting pitcher Clay Hensley drilled a solo home run in the 3rd to give NOLA a 2-0 lead. Albuquerque scored six unanswered in the third and fourth innings to take a 6-2 lead. Lindsey hammered another home run and the comeback was on. The Zephyrs led 7-6 in the sixth inning but the bullpen could not hold the lead.

The Isotopes rallied with a pair of runs in the 8th to take the lead on a Dee Brown RBI double. New Orleans returned the favor tying the game in the top of the 9th with a Gaby Sanchez sacrifice fly. Albuquerque rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning with three hits and scored a run. Scott Strickland picked up the win despite blowing his second save of the season. Chris Mobley takes the loss for New Orleans.

The Zephyrs fall 6 ½ games back of first place Albuquerque.

Game Notes: The Z's fall to 0-7 at Isotopes Park this season. The Marlins Triple A Affiliate home had been Isotopes Park for the past six seasons.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Isotopes meet in the series finale on Sunday night at 6PM. The Zephyrs will start LH John Koronka (4-5, 3.48) against TBA. New Orleans returns home on Monday to start a eight game homestand.
