July 29, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Game Keys - The Nashville Sounds scored four first inning runs and defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 5-3 at Greer Stadium in Nashville. The Z's starter pitcher Andrew Miller pitched one inning and left due to a right ankle injury. It was the second day in a row that the Z's starter lasted an inning due to injury.
The Sounds did the damage in the first scoring four runs. Miller was not sharp allowing three hits, two walks and a hit bats men. Miller made his second start since being reassigned from the Marlins and has walked 11 batters in 5 innings. The Z's bullpen did a admirable job once again pitching seven innings allowing one run.
The Z's offense came alive in the fifth inning scoring three runs to pull within a run. Nashville starter Chris Narveson earned the win pitching six innings.
Game Notes: The Z's added pitchers Jarett Santos and Brad Stone from Class AA Jacksonville prior to the game. Outfileder Cameron Maybin was ejected for the 2nd time this season in the sixth inning. Manager Edwin Rodriguez served the second game of his five game suspension.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Sounds meet Thursday at 7PM at Greer Stadium. The Z's will start RH Ryan Tucker against LH Chase Wright.
