Zephyrs Take Down Nashville 6-3

NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Zephyrs made the most of opportunities on Friday at Greer Stadium in a 6-3 win. Nashville committed two errors and walked eight Zephyr hitters. The Sounds out-hit the Zephyrs 13-5, but the Zephyrs get their second consecutive win to inch back towards .500 at 34-35.

The Z's sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning and scored four runs on two hits. Donovan Solano and Kevin Kouzmanoff each drove in a run and the Zephyrs erased an early 2-0 deficit.

The Z's managed to score a run in the fifth inning without a hit. Gorkys Hernandez walked, stole second base and advanced to third on a ground-out. Kouzmanoff drove in his second run with a sacrifice fly and the Zephyrs extended their lead to 5-2.

Jake Smolinski led off the sixth inning with his fourth home run of the season. Matt Neil earned the win pitching five and a third innings allowed two runs on ten hits. Chris Narveson on a Major League rehab assignment got the loss. He pitched four and two thirds allowed five runs, three earned on three hits and walked five.

The Sounds rallied in the ninth scoring a run on three hits but Chris Hatcher came in and struck-out Blake Davis for his league leading 21st save.

Game Notes - Hatcher leads all of Minor League Baseball with 21 saves and now has 32 career saves as a Zephyr. The Z's turned a pair of double-plays and now have 69 on the season, third most in the league. The Zephyrs improved to 12-10 all-time on Flag Day.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Nashville will meet in the second game of the four game series. The Z's will start RH Jared Rogers (1-1, 4.91) against Sounds RH Mike Fiers (1-1, 1.23). RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM "The Ticket".
