Zephyrs Fall in Round Rock

ROUND ROCK, Texas -Kevin Cash picked up three hits and three RBI as the Round Rock Express defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 5-2 at the Dell Diamond. The Express win the series taking three of the four games and have reduced its magic number to one. Round Rock last won the division title in 2006.

Veteran Brett Tomko pitched six innings allowing one run on three hits to pick up his eighth win of the season. Cash started the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Cash picked up a two out two RBI single in the fourth inning to give Round Rock a 3-0 lead.

The Z's offense loaded the bases in the fifth inning with no one out but managed just one run. Z's starter Alex Sanabia pitched into the sixth inning allowing five runs on nine hits and suffered his second loss in his second start.

The Z's picked up a run in the seventh inning with a Chris Coghlan sacrifice fly. The Z's were outhit 10-7 in the loss.

Game Notes - The loss officially eliminates the Zephyrs from playoff contention. The Zephyrs have dropped nine of their last 12 road contests. Outfielder Logan Morrison is expected to join the Marlins on Wednesday for their doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs open their final homestand of the season. The Zephyrs will start RH Chris Sampson (8-1, 3.74) against Omaha RH Vin Mazzaro (5-2, 4.51) RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM.
