Zephyrs Fall in 9th Inning in Nashville 7-6

Nashville, TN - Chad Pinder slashed a double to left field and Joey Wendle scored from first base to give the Nashville Sounds a 7-6 walk-off win at First Tennessee Park on Tuesday night. The Zephyrs dropped the game but won three of four in the series heading into an off day.
Nashville scored a run in the first and the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. New Orleans starter Dylan Axelrod struggled early but pitched out of trouble in both innings.
The Zephyrs offense came alive in the third inning with three consecutive hits including the two run home run from Xaxier Scruggs and the Z's took a 3-2 advantage. New Orleans added a run in the fifth inning with a Don Kelly RBI base hit.
Nashville touched up the Z's starter Axelrod with three more runs in the fifth inning and the Sounds took a 5-4 lead. The game went back and forth between New Orleans and Nashville as the Z's retook the lead in the seventh scoring a pair of runs.
Max Muncy led off the seventh inning with a solo home run and the game was tied at six. Nashville got a lead off infield hit in the ninth and Pinder's walk off double snapped the Sounds four game skid.
Ryan Brasier earned the win in relief and Greg Nappo took the loss. The Z's fall to 9-11 on the season.
GAME NOTES
The Miami Marlins promoted Zephyr pitcher Justin Nicolino. The left hander will start vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
Miami optioned pitcher Jared Cosart to the Z's and Chris Narveson was out-righted from the Marlins roster to the Zephyrs.
The Zephyrs bullpen had pitched 14.1 scorless innings prior to allowing a run in the seventh inning.
Destin Hood is second in the PCL with 21 RBI and is second with six home runs.
The Zephyrs snapped a seven games win streak at First Tennessee Park, dating back to the opening of the ballpark last season. The Zephyrs are now 9-3 in this ballpark.
ON DECK
The Zephyrs will have Wednesday as an off-day. The Z's open a four game series at home Thursday against the Memphis Redbirds. The game will be broadcast on WODT Fox Sports 1280 AM and streamed at iHeart Radio App.
