Great Falls, MT - Minor League Baseball announced its August Player of the Month award winners today for all leagues, and Voyagers IF/DH Justin Yurchak has been selected for the honor in the Pioneer League.
Yurchak led the Pioneer League for the month of August in batting average (.449), on-base percentage (.546), and OPS (1.290). The 20-year-old Clifton Park, NY native finished 2nd in hits (35), doubles (nine), and slugging percentage (.744). Yurchak drew 18 walks while striking out only nine times and posted 10 multi-hit games in 22 games played. The former Binghamton University standout was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the 2017 first-year MLB player draft. For the season, Yurchak is batting .350 with eight home runs and 27 runs batted in. He ranks 4th in the league in hitting.
Great Falls opens a crucial two-game road series Wednesday night against the Missoula Osprey. The Voyagers and Osprey are tied for first in the North Division second-half with only four games remaining in the regular season.
