Youngstown, OH - The Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce the Youngstown City Schools "Get Schooled" Day Game, set for October 20th at 11:00 a.m.
During this game, the Phantoms have many interactive elements going on throughout the game, these elements focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). There will be multiple STEAM related activities available to the students in the concourse, while each student will also receive a Get Schooled Activity book.
The Phantom's also have a Hockey for Health portion on the game which focuses on five different components: Finance, Nutrition, Physical Fitness, Education and Good Citizenship. This year the Good Citizenship component will focus on Drug Prevention. Duane Piccirilli, Executive Director of Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board is collaborating with the Phantoms to achieve the best drug prevention message possible. "I would like to applaud the players and leadership of the Youngstown Phantoms for the Get Schooled collaboration. It will not only promote healthy lifestyles to our youth, but also will provide our prevention and treatment agencies the ability to reach out to students during the game." Duane Piccirilli stated. The Phantoms are also working closely with the Ohio Attorney General's office. During the first intermission, co-creator of The Red Zone, Maurice Clarret, will be speaking.
The Phantoms are looking forward to making this game, fun and engaging for all those involved.
