YORK, Pennsylvania - Aaron Bates homered for the second night in a row in game three's 8-3 loss to the Revolution Wednesday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

For the start of game three, the Skeeters struck first with a run in the top half of the first inning Wednesday night. Ofilio Castro led off with a single and Dominic Ramos pushed him to third with a double into left before Steve Moss walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Jason Lane used a sac-fly into right to score Castro and give Sugar Land a 1-0 lead.

One inning later, Aaron Bates extended the Skeeters lead to 2-0 with his second home run (5) in as many nights. Bates led the inning off with a solo homer into left-center field.

The Revs scored their first runs on rebuttal in the bottom of the second inning when Chris Nowak and Johan Limonta reached with singles to start. Michael Hernandez pushed both into scoring position with a deep fly ball into left in the next at-bat. During the plate appearance of Travis Scott, Nix threw a wild-pitch allowing Nowak to score from third. Catcher Manny Mejia threw wild back to Nix who was covering the plate, and the ball escaped into the infield allowing Limonta to tie the game one the throwing error, 2-2.

After a scoreless third inning for both sides, the Revs took a one-run lead off a solo homer (26) from the league-leader Chris Nowak to start the bottom of the fourth, 3-2.

Michael Nix (4-10) got the start for Sugar Land for the 14th time this season and faired decently through four innings before he was pulled in the fifth having gone just four and a third. After giving up a leadoff single to Scott Grimes and a one-out double to Jeff Fiorentino to put runners on second and third, Will Startup relieved the starter. After getting the second out on a flyout from Joe Thurston, Startup walked Andres Peres to load the bases. On a 3-2 pitch to Nowak, the third baseman powered a fastball up and over Arch Nemisis down the left-field line for a grand slam. The round-tripper (27), his second of the game, extended the lead to five, 7-2.

Garrett Parcel worked a scoreless sixth inning of relief, but gave up one run on a wild-pitch in the seventh after Thurston reached on a leadoff double and was moved to third on a grounder, 8-2.

Wade Korpi received the spot start for the Revs after expected starter Derrick Gordon went down with an oblique problem. The reliever turned starter posted four innings giving up just the two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. York used Stephen Penney (2-1) for one inning in the fifth, Kris Regas in the sixth, Adam Thomas in the seventh, R.J. Rodriguez in the eighth and Ricardo Gomez in the ninth.

The Skeeters managed one run off an error from the first baseman in the top of the eighth after Jason Lane and Josh Pressley started the inning with back-to-back singles. Lane was moved to third on a fly-out into right by Bates, and on what should have been the third out of the inning, Iggy Suarez popped up to first baseman Johan Limonta, but he dropped the ball on the infield. Lane scored the final run of the game to cut the lead to 8-3.
