Yard Goats Win 7th Consecutive Game, 4-1 at Harrisburg

Harrisburg, PA - The Hartford Yard Goats (16-4) defeated the Harrisburg Senators (7-11) by the score of 4-1 on Wednesday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg, PA to earn their 7th consecutive win. Hartford starter Harrison Musgrave retired the first 20 batters faced and had a perfect game before Shawn Pleffner singled with two outs in the 7th inning. He sat down 21 of the 22 batters he faced from the first through the seventh inning. Hartford has won its first six series to start the season and will go for a 3-game sweep tomorrow evening.

The Yard Goats scored twice in the first inning to take the early advantage of Senators starter Reynaldo Lopez. Raimel Tapia led off the bottom of the first with an infield single followed by a David Dahl walk. Pat Valaika's sacrifice bunt moved runners to second and third base. Ryan McMahon drove home Tapia with a fly ball to center field. Rosell Herrera then ripped a 2-out single scoring Dahl from second base and giving the Yard Goats a 2-0 lead.

Hartford scored again in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Pat Valiaka scoring Tapia from third base and giving the Yard Goats a 3-0 lead. Tapia began the frame with a bunt single and went to third on a solid single by Dahl.

The Yard Goats made it 4-0 in the 5th inning on a solo home run by Tapia, his second homer in the Eastern League. He belted a 1-out blast into the right field bullpen. Hartford pitching retired 24 of 25 batters through eight innings before the Senators scored a run in the 9th off reliever Devin Burke.

The Yard Goats wrap up their 3-game series in Harrisburg on Wednesday night (6:30 PM). LHP Kyle Freeland will start for the Yard Goats while RHP Lucas Giolito will start for the Senators. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
