Yard Goats Lose Rubber Game to Fisher Cats

Manchester, NH- The Hartford Yard Goats were defeated by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by the score of 11-5 in the rubber game on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Fisher Cats scored multiple runs in five different innings to send the Yard Goats to their first series loss in four tries. New England native Thomas Pannone (Cranston, RI) allowed just one run over 5.2 innings to earn the win and improve to 7-2 on the season. Yard Goats First Baseman Correlle Prime cranked a grand slam home run in the eighth inning, Hartford's fourth this season. Tonight was the 15th game of the Plymouth Rock Assurance Cup Series, which the Fisher Cats now lead eight games to seven.

The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the first inning off New Hampshire starter Thomas Pannone. Brian Mundell cracked a two out RBI single scoring Jan Vazquez from second base to give the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead. Vazquez set up the game's first run with a single and then stole second base.

The Fisher Cats took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning off Hartford starter Nick Additon. Harold Ramirez began the inning by reaching first base on a throwing error. Richard Urena followed with a double, putting runners at second and third. Lourdes Gurriel singled home Ramirez and the game at 1-1. Later that inning, Gunnar Height's sacrifice fly scored Urena from third, giving the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead.

New Hampshire added two more runs in the fifth inning to make it a 4-1 game. Gunnar Height began the rally with a double and later scored on a wild pitch by Nick Additon to give the Fisher Cats a 3-1 edge. Anthony Alford's two out single off reliever Troy Neiman scored Jonathan Davis to make it 4-1 New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats scored another two runs in the sixth inning and then four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Emilio Guerrero contributed with an RBI double and Lourdes Guerriel highlighted the three-run seventh with a two-run single to make it 9-1 New Hampshire.

The Yard Goats made it a 9-5 game when Correlle Prime smashed a grand slam home run into the left field seats in the eighth inning. The line drive landed in the hospitality section of seats in front of the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill for his eighth homer of the season.

The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Hartford Friday night (7:05 PM) and begin a six-game homestand and play the first of a three game weekend series against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies affiliate). There are only 10 home games remaining this season. RHP Ryan Castellani will start for the Yard Goats while RHP Jacob Waguespack will pitch for the Fightins.
