Yann Sauve To Participate In Top Prospects Game

SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman Yann Sauvé has been named to the roster of Team Red for upcoming 2008 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, which will be held in Edmonton, AB on January 23 at Rexall Place.

The Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is the annual showcase of the top draft eligible players from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and features the next wave of future NHL stars from across the Canadian Hockey League. The two-day event will feature the annual Top Prospects Game, as well as a skills competition where players can show-off their individual abilities for fans and scouts alike.

Sauvé, 17, is currently enjoying a standout sophomore season with the Sea Dogs. The 6'3", 220 lb. blue-liner was recently ranked 21st amongst North American skaters in the National Hockey League's mid-season Central Scouting Rankings.

In 41 games played this season, Sauvé has registered 3G-10A-13P in addition to 54 PIM and a rating of +2. The first overall selection at the 2006 QMJHL Entry Draft, Yann tallied 2G-13A-15P in 60GP as a rookie with the Sea Dogs during the 2006-07 campaign. The Rigaud, QC native has played for Team QMJHL at the past two ADT Canada-Russia Challenges, and also played for Team Canada at last summer's U-18 Junior World Cup in the Czech Republic.

The Sea Dogs are currently ranked first in the QMJHL East with a record of 26-12-1-2. Saint John commences a four-game home stand later tonight when they play the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 7:00pm at Harbour Station.
