Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD -On Sunday afternoon, former Keys reliever Jimmy Yacabonis made his Major League debut against the New York Yankees. He became the 155th former Key to make the Major Leagues, and joined Stefan Crichton and Michael Ohlman as one of three former Keys to debut in 2017.

Yacabonis pitched in relief in the seventh inning of Sunday afternoon's game. He tossed one inning, allowing four runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one. The right-hander had his contract selected by the Orioles on Sunday.

Before being called up to the Majors, the right-hander was outstanding at Triple-A Norfolk. Appearing in 23 games, Yacabonis posted a 0.90 ERA and allowed just three earned runs over 30 innings, good for a 0.90 ERA. Opponents were batting .149 against him, the lowest mark for an International League reliever.

Originally a 13th round draft pick in 2013, Yacabonis, 25, was a member of the Keys in parts of the last three seasons. He pitched in 76 total games for the orange and black, including 16 games last season where he went 0-2 with a 3.98 ERA before earning the call-up to Double-A Bowie. With the Baysox, he amassed a 2-2 record with a 2.03 ERA in 34 games.

The Keys begin a three-game series at Myrtle Beach on Monday night. Left-hander Brian Gonzalez (2-3, 5.85) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by Pelicans lefty Ryan Kellogg (3-3, 4.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 1450 AM The Source, frederickkeys.com, and the TuneIn Radio App.

The Keys return to Nymeo Field on Thursday, June 15 to face the Lynchburg Hillcats. For tickets, fans can call the box office at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com
