X's Win On Walk-Off Single In Eleventh Inning

Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers sent the fans home happy on Sunday afternoon, getting the 5-4 victory in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eleventh inning.
Sioux City recorded the first two runs of the contest in the first inning. Two sacrifice-fly balls hit to left field by Nate Samson and Tim Colwell, each scored the runner at third base.
Kansas City answered with their first run in the third inning. Vladamir Frias led-off with a single, moved to third on a Brett Wiley base-hit, and scored off a Jared Mojica sac-fly-RBI to cut the lead down to one run.
In the fourth inning, the Explorers added two more runs. Nate Samson knocked in another run with an RBI single, and LeVon Washington scored a run with a 3-1 groundout, plating the runner at third base.
The T-Bones cut the lead back down to one run in the sixth inning. With a runner at first, Anthony Gallas smashed a two-run homer, cutting the lead down to 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Kansas City tied the game in the ninth inning. With runners advancing to second and third on a wild-pitch, Jake Blackwood hit a sacrifice-fly ball to left field, scoring the tto left field, scoring the tying run at third base.
The Explorers would not be able to score in the ninth inning, forcing extra-innings for the second straight night at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
Sioux City took home the victory in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Tim Colwell led-off with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice-bunt, and scored on a bases-loaded walk-off single by X's second baseman Bryan Johns to get the 5-4 win.
Explorers starter Bubba Maxwell finished with a no decision, going six solid innings with only three runs allowed. X's left-hander Hobbs Johnson (1-1) received the victory pitching two scoreless innings in the tenth and eleventh.
T-Bones starter Jared Messer had a no decision on the afternoon, giving up four runs (two earned) in five innings pitched. Kansas City right-hander Johnny Shuttlesworth was charged with the loss, allowing the winning run to score in the bottom of the eleventh.
