Xplorers Strong First Half Too Much for Steeldogs

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 defeated the Birmingham Steeldogs 62-32 at the DeSoto Civic Center tonight.

The Xplorers led at halftime 49-0, before being outscored 32-13 in the second half. Memphis quarterback Brian Jones left the game in the third quarter and did not return.

Memphis' first half attack was led by Offensive MVP Kevin Prentiss. Prentiss caught three passes for 67 yards and three touchdowns. The ADT Defensive Player of the Game was Dahnel Singfield who picked up his eighth and ninth interceptions of the season. The US Army Ironman of the Game went to Deon Giddens, who had one interception, along with four carries for eight yards and a touchdown, and one reception for a 33 yard score.

With the win Memphis moved to 10-1 one the season. The Steeldogs dropped to 1-10. Memphis will head to Oklahoma City on Friday for a second match against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. The Xplorers defeated the Yard Dawgz 43-38 back on May 7th in Memphis.
