Memphis Xplorers News Release

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 were voted number one today in the Weekly Coaches Poll.

Memphis captured 221 of a possible 228 points, including twelve first place votes. The Xplorers shot up from number three last week after defeating the previously number one ranked Manchester Wolves 83-26 Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.

"I am always glad to be recognized by my coaching peers this way," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "Being ranked number one doesn't mean anything until the final poll at the end of the season. There is still a lot of work to be done to get that final ranking."

With the loss to Memphis, the Wolves dropped to the number three spot. They had been ranked number one for five consecutive weeks before the loss. The defending ArenaCup Champion Florida Firecats received seven first place votes and stayed at the number two spot.

The Xplorers head to Central Valley this weekend to play the Coyotes. Game time is scheduled for 9:30pm. All Xplorers games can be heard on SportsRadio WMC The Mighty 790 AM. The next Memphis home game is Saturday July 30th at 7:00pm at the DeSoto Civic Center. Single game tickets start as low as $7 and can be purchased by calling 662-342-1755, visiting the DeSoto Civic Center box office, or by logging onto www.TicketMaster.com today.
