Escobar: Pitched one inning in relief vs. HAG on 5/26 stirking out one on one hit (2-1 Power)
Keller: Tossed six innings in loss 5/24 @ COL allowing three ER on seven hits (3-0 Fireflies)
LEADING OFF: The West Virginia Power fell shy in the opener against the Charleston RiverDogs Monday night 3-2. The Power scored twice in the top of the sixth on a pair of RBI singles from Arden Pabst and Clark Eagan. Cam Vieaux surrendered three runs in 5.2 IP, the most runs allowed in his Power career. West Virginia has dropped four straight entering Tuesday.
DEUCES: West Virginia has scored two runs or fewer in their past five games since being rained out four days in a row. The Power are 1-4 in those games. West Virginia is 3-11 in one run games and are 2-6 in games when scoring two runs this season.
UPHILL CLIMB: After losing three of four to the Suns, the Power find themselves 6.5 games back in the first half Northern Division with 19 games left in the first half.
GONE COLD: After West Virginia won four straight games, the Power have lost four straight. In the four losses, they've tallied just seven runs, two on solo home runs.
BATTLE FOR CHARLESTON: West Virginia and Charleston are in the midst of their third series this season, the first in South Carolina. The two clubs nearly split even through the first seven games, with the RiverDogs taking the majority with four wins. Both teams both offensively and pitching-wise are nearly identical against each other with three series to go, including this one.
HIT EM EARLY: West Virginia is 19-2 when leading after five innings this season, which is tied for second in the league in wins. Power have the best SAL winning percentage in +3 run games at .700 (14-6).
LOUIE LOUIE: Luis Escobar takes the ball in the middle game against Charleston. Tonight will be his tenth appearance and ninth start of the year. He'll take the hill to start for the first time since May 18 against Columbia. Escobar will make his third appearance against the RiverDogs sporting a 3.72 ERA against the Yankees affiliate. The right-hander will pitch for the first time at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park tonight.
KENAN & KELLER: Brian Keller has somehow missed pitching against West Virginia this season. The Power and RiverDogs have matched up eight times but the Power have yet to face Keller, who has made eight starts. He made 13 appearances in 2016 for three separate teams (Staten Island, Gulf Coast, Pulaski). He has spent all of the 2017 season with Charleston.
POWER POINTS: Albert Baur has reached base in 17 straight games after walking and singling yesterday and is on his second longest hitting streak of his season, six games... Clark Eagan doubled twice in yesterday's loss, breaking a three-game hitless streak... Adrian Valerio hit his first career home run for the only Power run on Saturday... Carlos Munoz went 3-6 with a double and a homer in Friday's double header... Matt Frawley picked up his first Power save in game one Friday...
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh walked off on the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday 4-3. Andrew McCutchen smacked a walk off home run in the victory... Indianapolis dropped a series finale to the Rochester Red Wings 5-3. Elias Diaz knocked his second home run of the season in a multi-hit game... Altoona edged past the Erie SeaWolves 3-2. Jordan Luplow decided the game with a seventh inning home run to lift the Curve to victory... Bradenton had Monday off after losing to Jupiter Sunday 10-5...
PROMO WATCH: The Power return home on June 6 to host the Delmarva ShoreBirds. That Tuesday is Two for Tuesday and IT Services Night. West Virginia will be home for seven games from June 6-12 in the last homestand before the All-Star break.
