WACO, Texas-Forward David Stevens scored 24 points to lead the Wranglers to a 140-122 win over Austin Capitol Sound on Thursday.
The Waco Wranglers led throughout the game entering half time 69-54. Every player contributed putting points on the board. Nine Wranglers had double figures with David Stevens adding 24, Reggie Griffin 21, Kevin Win 14, Chris Johnson 14, Mario Kinsey 13, Vincent Bridgewater 11, Jeffrey Sadler 11, Sheldon Denson 10 and Bobby Hill 10. The Wranglers finished with a 140-122 victory. The Wranglers now hold a 4-0 season record.
Despite the win, lead scorer David Stevens felt the team didn't play their best. "I don't think we played well today," Stevens said. "I don't think we played as a team. I think we had a lot of effort at times, but we didn't put it together in the fourth quarter."
The Wranglers have four additional preseason games before they compete against other ABA teams. Their season opener will be Nov. 4 against Arkansas Aeros in Springdale, Ark. The Wrangler's first regular season home game is scheduled for Nov. 11 against Monterrey, Mexico at Reicher Catholic High School.
The Waco Wrangler's return to action Saturday night, Oct. 21, at 7:00 p.m. when they face Houston Blaze at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco. Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at ten dollars.
